Meet the Lender: Grant Carter

The banking industry first caught Grant’s eye in 2002 while he was attending college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Over the last 16 years Grant has developed knowledge and skills that led him to his current position in Construction Lending and Commercial Real Estate Lending.

The highlight of Grant’s work is developing relationships with his customers to find solutions that fit their needs and help them achieve their personal or small business goals.

When it comes to Construction Lending, it is his goal to simplify the process and educate homebuyers and builders from lot selection to construction and permanent financing.

Grant’s expertise in Commercial Lending allows him to not only help his customers through the loan decision process but also through their own business decision process. "If someone wants to get started in commercial real estate, I can help advise them on how to go about it," states Grant. "I can also help someone who wants to expand their investment portfolio."

Commercial real estate is easily described as any property used for profit-making purposes. Lincoln Federal has branches in 9 communities across Nebraska and Grant can assist borrowers in all of them. He is able to offer advice about business growth and structure. One of Grant’s strengths is aligning the customer’s needs with the banks offerings; thus creating a parallel relationship with his customers. "I find it so rewarding when I can help people understand the dynamics of commercial real estate and educate them on how to proceed from the beginning of the process to the end so they can achieve their real estate investment goals," adds Grant.

"Lincoln Federal Savings Bank is willing to give back resources in the communities they serve, like participating in a breast cancer walk or selling parking spots to help raise money," says Grant. "This community involvement builds rapport when I talk with customers and they hear that we give back, whether that is financially or by volunteering."

Networking and building relationships is key to Grant’s position; furthermore, an integral part of his life. Grant Carter serves on the Board of Directors for the Eastridge Pool in Lincoln and on a fundraising committee at Catholic Social Services. Also active in the community, are Grant’s children. He and his high-school sweetheart have four children. His two older children are involved in competitive swimming year-round. Grant and his wife enjoy spending time with their children at these events through coaching and spectating basketball and soccer and organizing youth retreats at their church.
