Meet the Lender: Christie McCarthy

As a child, Christie McCarthy grew up listening to hammers and saws while her parents remodeled their way through their lakefront house. As an adult, it seemed natural to build so she and her husband built a log home for themselves and a second one for a friend. This sparked an interest in residential lending which led her to work in the mortgage industry in various roles before she started her job at the Lincoln Federal Savings Bank branch as a loan officer.

A snapshot of Christie's day includes checking rates, calling agents and meeting with customers to take applications for new construction, conventional, FHA, VA, USDA or NIFA loans. She also serves as an Ambassador with the Blair Chamber of Commerce which involves everything from taking pictures for “Yard of the Week” and “Brightly Shining Christmas Lights Spectacular” that are featured in the local newspaper to drafting occasional business spotlight articles for the Chamber newsletter. Volunteering as a Chamber Ambassador allows her to get out in the community, meet business owners and promote Chamber member services. Lincoln Federal is also involved in supporting community fundraising events such as the Chamber Golf tournament for participation by businesses and the Sugar Plum Festival for families. Both are popular events.

When she is not at work, Christie enjoys time with her husband and three adult children. Her married daughter lives and works in Boulder Colorado as a research meteorologist, her son lives in Omaha working in construction and another son with autism lives at home and works part time. Getting involved in the community is a common goal in their family. They strive to create opportunity to socialize as much as possible.

For Christie, it's a privilege to assist people as they begin their search for a home, especially when it comes to first-time home buyers. She has been the Mortgage Loan Officer at the Lincoln Federal Savings Bank branch in Blair, NE since 2016. "Blair is a small community so you get to know people on a personal level," says Christie. "That's why it's so enjoyable when I help my customers realize their dreams of owning a home. The excitement they feel reminds me of why I love what I do. It’s great to hear stories about their home and what recent project they might be working on."
